Hawaii Island Contractors Association Scholarship Trolling Tournament Results

The Hawaii Island Contractors Association, Bank of Hawaii, & Honsador Lumber LLC recently held their 9th Annual Scholarship Trolling Tournament on Sunday, August 3rd. The tournament ran concurrently with the Hilo Trollers and the Dodd Balock Memorial Tournament.

Seventeen boats entered the Hawaii Island Contractors Association, Bank of Hawaii and Honsador Lumber LLC tournament and twelve caught flag fish. Three ahi, four mahimahi, six marlin and 14 ono were weighed in.

The largest marlin and largest fish in the tournament was a 314.4 - pound fish landed on the La Paloma by captain Melvin Tanaka and angler Jimmy Yoshiyama. The largest ahi, a 147.2 - pound fish, and largest ono, a 39.7- pound fish was landed on the Ho Ryo Maru by captain Les Komeji, angler Robert Desa. The largest mahimahi, a 53.7- pound fish was landed on the Mika D by captain Randy Duldulao, angler Ivan Deschamps.

Grand Champion honors in the tournament went to the La Paloma for two marlin and an ahi for a total weight of 559.6 pounds of flag fish.
